It’s 6.23
I don’t want to be late for dinner
But wait,
Let’s first check the weather.
Surely there’s time to cut my nails,
Oh! Wasn’t there a bag on sale?
I should find those candles I’ve been looking for,
and organize my sock draw.
Re-pot the balcony plants
I’ve been meaning to.
And re-read that thing
About why the sky is blue.
I need to fold these clothes,
Quickly blow my nose
Tidy up the stairs and
Plump the cushions on the chairs.
When was the last time
I practiced my guitar.
I really must learn
How to drive a car.
Gosh, are we at the hour?
I haven’t even had a shower!
You know what would be absolutely divine?
Three minutes for myself
And a glass of wine.
There’s a poem in my head
That just can’t wait.
It’s 7.45
I can’t afford to be late.
