I love poetry for all the obvious reasons. That it evokes emotion and empathy, fosters intelligence and imagination, encourages societal change and self-reflection, that it contrasts symbolism with reality, makes the ordinary extraordinary, for all its metaphors and all the mystery.

That it does so much with so little. That it’s written, often, in a flurry, and then crafted deliberately. With precision, with rhythm. Some wise person said- poetry captures the essence of what it means to be human.

But mostly, I love poetry because it inverses the rules of language. Which explains, in part, the name of my page.
